Rockin’ Readers is a story and activity program for children in K-2nd grade. The program is held every Thursday after school from 3:10 to 4:00 pm. Kindergarteners and 1st graders attend on the 1st and 3rd Thursdays of the month. 2nd graders attend on the 2nd and 4th Thursdays of the month. Each week we read stories and do crafts and activities related to a particular theme. From bones to stones, light to flight, we’ll explore the world through stories and hands-on crafts.
Rockin’ Readers meet every Thursday during the school year. There are no Rockin’ Readers’ programs on school holidays or snow days. Check the calendar for the next meeting time and theme.
Kids' Clubs
For 3rd thru 6th graders, the following clubs are offered monthly during the school year.
Science Club
What could be more fun than getting your hands dirty and learning about how things work? The Science Club meets the first Monday of each month at 4:00 pm. Led by Mr. and Mrs. Stevens, the club will include hands-on activities and experiments. Club members will explore minerals, dinosaurs, magnetism, electricity, and other exciting topics. If you’re interested in science, be sure to come to this fun club!
Book Club
One of the best parts of reading a good book is sharing it with others. Come share and talk about your favorite books. Through talking about your favorite characters, sharing book reviews and even performing plays about books, this club lets you talk about what you liked, what puzzled you, and what you didn’t like about the books you’ve read! If you like to read books and talk about them, come join our book club. Bring your latest favorite to the meeting or find a new favorite to start reading! The Book Club meets the second Wednesday of each month at 4:00 pm. Mrs. Little, the elementary school librarian, leads the club.
Writers' Club
For kids who love to write their own stories, the Writers' Club meets the 4th Monday of each month. Mrs. Wakula, the group's facilitator, leads these young authors in creating worlds, characters, and plots. Using writing prompts, journaling and drawing, this group of 3rd through 6th graders write the stories that their imaginations' spin. If you love to write stories, as well as read them, join this group.
