Movie discussion group
The library will be hosting monthly movie viewings and discussions. Selections will span such diverse films as “Doubt” with Meryl Streep, Philip Seymour Hoffman, and Amy Adams to “The Painted Veil,” based on a novel by W. Somerset Maugham, starring Edward Norton and Naomi Watts. Also featured will be “Rabbit-Proof Fence,” based on a true story of the experience of young Aborigines in Australia. After watching the movie, join a lively discussion of these thought provoking films.
Consult the calendar for the featured film. For more information, call the library at 749-4616.
Homer Writers’ Group
The Homer Writers are a group of intrepid writers who meet the first and third Wednesdays of each month at 7:00 pm. The group includes poets, memoirists, children’s writers, romance, historical fiction and fantasy writers who gather together to talk, write and share the writing life. If you love to write, if you’re a writer but afraid to admit it, or if you’ve always wanted to try writing and need help getting started, come to this supportive group of fellow writers. We write together, learn together, and help each other grow as writers.
Library Book Discussion Group
The library’s book discussion group meets the fourth Tuesday of each month at 6:30 pm. The group picks a different book to read and discuss each month. From mystery to biography, literary fiction to non-fiction, we cover the gamut. If you love to read and talk about books with other book lovers, please join us. Check the calendar for what’s on tap this month and call the library to order a copy of this month’s book to read.
